Periodic Review of Existing Rules

NCGS §150B-21.3A requires state agencies to review existing rules on a 10-year review cycle.

Pursuant to NCGS §150-21.3A (c), the Division is required to conduct an analysis of each existing rule and make an initial determination as to whether the rule is necessary or unnecessary.

  • Necessary rule - Means any rule other than an unnecessary rule.
  • Unnecessary rule - Means a rule that the agency determines to be obsolete, redundant, or otherwise not needed.
